Romanian MEP Rareș Bogdan elected vice-chair of EP Committee on Foreign Affairs

Rareș Bogdan announced his election as vice-chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, revealing that “the situation in the Republic of Moldova, which is struggling to cope with the vile blackmail of the Russian Federation and the information war that is expanding is my absolute priority!”,  IPN reports.

“I was elected vice-chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) of the European Parliament, thank you all for your trust! The most prestigious committee of the European Parliament brings together former heads of state and government, former foreign ministers, European commissioners, former top journalists and personalities of the academic and cultural life from EU countries. I believe that the presence in AFET at the level of representation and coordination is a major success for Romania, especially in the current geopolitical context – let’s think about Ukraine, which has been waging a war to defend its citizens, but also the entire European Union, let's think about the enlargement process, where we want both the Ukrainians and Georgians but especially our Romanian brothers from the Republic of Moldova to be by our side, in the Common European House, let’s think about the conflict in the Middle East and the increasingly complicated situation in the Balkans,” wrote Rares Bogdan.

He congratulated his Liberal colleagues, who obtained extremely important positions for Romania.

“Dan Motreanu was elected deputy coordinator of the EPP Group in the Committee on Regional Development (REGI); Daniel Buda was elected first vice-chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture, and Siegfried Mureșan was elected deputy leader of the EPP Group, the largest political group in the European Parliament. We will represent with dignity and loyalty the interests of Romania and the Romanians in the European Parliament. It’s an honor for me! Working alongside AFET chair David McAllister (CDU, Germany) will be a privilege! We will courageously approach the hot files that involve not only the interests of the European Union, but also the defense of democratic values on this increasingly troubled globe! The situation in the Republic of Moldova, which is struggling to cope with the vile blackmail of the Russian Federation and the information war that is expanding, is my absolute priority!”, the MEP wrote on Facebook.
