The Moldovan authorities, when they decide to gradually lift the restrictions imposed since March 17 until present, should take such actions based on a document with recommendations worked out by experts of the European Union, IPN quoted Romanian MEP Victor Negrescu as saying in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
“The European Commission designed a comprehensive document that includes recommendations for the states that want to relax the restrictions. These recommendations are welcome and I think the Government of the Republic of Moldova should look at these recommendations as they were formulated by experts from all over Europe and I think it could learn about those things. You talked about the reopening of shops. I think they should examine that document as there are particular norms, conditions that should be met to make sure that it is safe for employees, for the entrepreneurs working in these sectors and for those who want to visit them, for consumers, clients,” said the Romanian official.
Victor Negrescu noted that this document is recommendatory in character, but even in such conditions, it is respected by the countries of the European Union.
“There is that set of recommendations that are respected by the member states. The EU cannot impose conditions, cannot oblige the member states as the EU is not the Soviet Union. In the EU, no one imposes anyone and things are agreed in concert, while those recommendations can be taken into consideration and are taken into consideration. In general, the countries that decided to partially relax the measures did it based on the principles and recommendations formulated by the European experts,” stated the MEP.
As to the financial support provided by the EU to Moldova during the pandemic, the Romanian politician said he is sure that this will not be the only one of the kind.
“I don’t think this will be the only financing. I hope and struggle in the European Parliament for the Republic of Moldova to receive additional sums. These sums are proportional to the number of infections and victims, but it is an important sum compared with the financing received earlier. It is probably insufficient, but is an allocated sum and I think that the EU did well in terms of the assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova. Besides these sums decided in concert, there are different concessions, solutions provided individually by the member states, such as Romania, which offers assistance to the Republic of Moldova as the Republic of Moldova is a partner and is an important country for many of the member states of the European Union,” stated Victor Negrescu.
The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis in a press briefing on April 27 announced that a team of doctors and medical workers of Romania will come to Moldova to help the hospitals here. Romania will also send face masks, sanitary and protection materials and medicines from the Romanian state’s supplies.
