After more than 25 years, staffing structures in the early education system have been reapproved. Several new positions related to inclusive education have been introduced, and Russian-language kindergartens will now have Romanian language teachers, IPN reports.
"We finally have new staffing structures in kindergartens. Several positions have been introduced to ensure inclusive education for children—speech therapists, psychologists, psycho-pedagogues, physical therapists, and support teachers. These positions are now included in the staffing structures and will be eligible for state budget funding," stated Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun.
Until now, these positions were not officially recognized, and if they existed in kindergartens, they were funded solely by local public administration.
Specialized kindergartens will also see the introduction of new roles such as psycho-pedagogues, sign language interpreters, ophthalmologists, and more. "Equally important is the introduction of the position of Romanian language teacher in Russian-language kindergartens, allowing preschoolers to begin learning Romanian from an early age," the minister noted.
Additionally, large kindergartens will have the option to expand their staff with more administrative positions, such as secretaries and data processing specialists, to facilitate digitalization processes and the completion of electronic records.
