The Romanian language should be promoted in school and society through the teaching process. The teachers are the main players as it depends on them how well those who study the language integrate into society. The studying of the Romanian language as the mother or foreign tongue in the context of the European values was discussed in a scientific-practical conference staged by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.
According to the representative of the Division Elena Mornealo, the conference will help disseminate the good practices of studying Rumanian as a non-mother tongue at different stages of learning. The activities within the conference will contribute to the professional development of teachers and will create opportunities for establishing cooperation relations and partnerships between teachers from different education institutions.
“The event offers the teachers in secondary general education and higher education the opportunity of presenting their professional experience, of debating different linguistic education problems and of increasing the social prestige of the Romanian language and of such undying professions as educator, teacher, professor, lecturer, doctor of teaching sciences,” stated Elena Mornealo.
Traian Turcanu, Head of the UNHCR National Office in Moldova, said the refugees are interested in learning Romanian, while the children of refugees learn it very well, possibly better than the native language. The refugees in Moldova see Romanian as a very nice language and as a way of integrating better into Moldovan society.
Ludmila Burlaca, head of the Languages Division of the Bureau for Interethnic Relations, said the requests to study Romanian made by other language speakers, mainly young people, have increased.
Gabriella Topor, dean of the Faculty of Philology of the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga”, noted that the Faculty of Philology was the first in Moldova that started to train teachers of Romanian for schools attended by other language speaking children. The teachers of Romanian bear a great responsibility as the level of integration into society of those who study it depends on their efforts.
The conference, which is at its second edition, will continue on April 21 with a training seminar in Vadul lui Voda town.
