The Romanian Language House on August 26 officially opens Romanian language and literature courses within the third International Summer School “Migration, Minorities, Human Rights – Sociopolitical Problems in the EU’s Neighboring States: Moldova and Ukraine”, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the institution. The project is implemented by Moldova-Institut Leipzig e.V. and AQA Logistic & Consulting in cooperation with the Moldovan-German Forum and with financial support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) between August 25 and September 14, in Chisinau and Odessa. The summer school was initiated by the president of Moldova-Institut Leipzig e.V., professor Klaus Bochman in 2009 with the aim of building a bridge between the young people from these counties and increasing the interest of the German students and applicants for a Doctor’s degree in Moldova and in the Romanian language. The school’s program will include an intensive Romanian language course at the Romanian Language House “Nichita Stanescu”, which is designed to help the participants learn Romanian or improve proficiency in it. They will also take part in a series of presentations and meetings with representatives of different governmental institutions and civil society organizations, who will provide information about certain aspects of the Moldovan political, social and economic life, in particular about the situation of the ethnic minorities and human rights in Moldova. The 17 participants are bachelors of political science, law, European studies, international relations or Romanistics. They will be able to deliver short speeches so as to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on the agreed topics. A meeting on the occasion of the official opening of the summer school will take place on Friday at the head office of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, which is the partner of Moldova-Institut Leipzig e.V. in different projects.
