Romanian Foreign Ministry makes call to pro-European forces of Moldova

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania called upon the pro-European forces of Moldova to show responsibility and solidarity and form a solid alliance that would support a government ready to continue the European integration process. The reaction comes after the Leanca 2 Government wasn’t given a vote of confidence by Parliament on February 12, IPN reports.

“This is responsibility imposed by the results achieved by Moldova on the European path until now and by the November 30, 2014 vote, which materialized into a majority mandate for the European option. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its conviction that the wisdom and maturity of the Moldovan political forces will prevail, for the benefit of all the people of Moldova,” it is said in the communique.

Moldova’s Parliament didn’t give a vote of confidence to the Cabinet proposed by the candidate for premiership Iurie Leanca. Only the 42 MPs of the PLDM and PDM voted for the Government, but it needed 51 votes to be invested. President Nicolae Timofti is to launch new consultations with the parliamentary group so as to nominate, as a result of them, a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister for the second round of voting in Parliament.
