The first edition of the Romanian Contemporary Film Festival will take place in Chisinau from June 25 to July 1. According to the organisers, the festival aims at offering the film fans in Moldova, Romanian productions which were recently awarded and to mark the international success of the Romanian which is due to film directors such as Nicolae Caranfil, Cristian Mungiu, Cristian Nemescu, Corneliu Porumboiu, Radu Muntean, Hanno Hoefer, etc. The opening of the festival will take place on Monday, June 25, at 18.00, with a gala show followed by the projection of the movie „California Dreaming”, directed by the late Cristian Nemescu (the Great Award “Un certain regard”, Cannes 2007). The actors Maria Dinulescu and Răzvan Vasilescu will also be present at the opening, as well as the film producer Hanno Hoefer and the film critic Magda Mihăilescu. Other films scheduled by the festival are: „Asfalt Tangou” (producer Nae Caranfil), „Cum mi-am petrecut sfârşitul lumii (producer Cătălin Mitulescu – Awarded „Un certain regard” for best female role at Cannes, in 2006, by Dorotheea Petre), „Hârtia va fi albastră” (producer Radu Muntean; The Award of the Sundance Festival, Special Jury Award at the Film Festival in Namur, Award of the International Cinematographic Confederation of Art and Essay Writing, Award for Best Film at the Eurasia Festival, Special certificate of the Sarajevo Film Festival), „A fost sau n-a fost” (director Corneliu Porumboiu - Award Camera d’Or, Cannes 2006, Award Label Europa Cinema, Transylvania Trophy). Two days will be dedicated to short artistic productions and documentary films. The festival will also present films directed by Hanno Hoefer and Cristian Mungiu, as well as a set of productions belonging to several young producers in Moldova. The event is organised by the Cultural Romanian Institute and the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau.
