According to the Register of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Chisinau, the villa of engineer Pronin that is located at 79 Mateevici St is an architectural monument built at the beginning of the 20th century. In a news conference on September 28, Ambassador Marius Lazurca said the Romanian Cultural Institute was looking for a historical, prestigious building that will be restored with the Embassy's support. He stressed that the Romanian Cultural Institute wants to be a window of the Romanian culture in Chisinau, a window of opportunity for the Moldovan artists to the Romanian area. Earlier, it was reported that the Romanian Cultural Institute might be based at 24 Iorga St, where there is the presidential residence that has not been used for a period.
