Romanian consuls in Balti and Cahul named

The Government of Romania appointed the general consuls to Balti and Cahul and is to name the Ambassador of Romania to Moldova soon, says the Romanian publication “Ziua” (“Day”), quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Dumitru-Nicanor Teculescu will be consul general of Romania in Balti, while Gentiana Serbu – in Cahul. Bogdan Marinescu could be designated Ambassador in Chisinau. Genţiana Serbu and Dumitru Nicanor Teculescu are diplomats with a rich consular experience. Serbu is now consultant at the political affairs division of Romania's Permanent Representative Office in the EU, with responsibility for Eastern Europe and Central Asia - Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and the Black Sea Region. Dumitru Nicador Teculescu had been consul general in Toronto, Canada, until 2007. The President of Romanian Traian Basescu issued recently a decree, ordering founding Romanian consulates in the Moldovan towns of Balti and Cahul. The Romania press reported the two consulates will start work in January 2010 at the latest.
