Romanian Consulate in Chisinau starts to receive applications for collective visas
Romanian Consulate in Chisinau will receive as of Thursday November 9 applications for collective visas for Moldovan citizens.
According to a press release of the Embassy of Romania to Moldova, the validity of the visas for entering Romania is to be granted starting January 1, 2007, a date when the neighboring state officially becomes a member of the European Union.
The Romanian diplomatic mission also announces that, for the individual applications, a system for on-line applications will be offered at the disposal of the applicants.
The Moldovan citizens are obliged to apply for visas for entering Romania as of January 1, 2007. It is stipulated in the Agreement between the Governments of Romania and Moldova regarding the regime of the citizens’ travels, signed on October 20, in Bucharest, by the Foreign ministers of the two states.
As the head of the diplomacy in Bucharest put it, the named agreement includes all the facilities existing in the European legislation and practices. Thus, Moldovan citizens will be exempted from duties when entering Romania and holders of diplomatic and official passports may not apply for visas. The agreement stipulates multiple-entrance visas as well. At the same time, Romania will extend the consular network from Moldova. Balti and Cahul are the first two towns to probably host consulates.
In turn, Chisinau has abolished the visa regime for the EU citizens, inclusively for Romania, as of the same date.
The European Commission, European Parliament and the Committee of Ministers engrossed in negotiations as concerns the Regulations regarding the small border traffic, which stipulates special permits for the citizens of the states neighboring the EU.
