Romanian citizens everywhere will be able to vote by mail

The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis signed a decree to promulgate the Law on Postal Voting and to amend and supplement the Law on the Election of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies and the Organization and Functioning of the Permanent Electoral Authorities. The promulgated legislative initiatives will be put into practice in the next parliamentary elections, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Romanian presidential press service, the Law on Postal Voting was an objective that the head of state assumed at the start of his tenure. “This normative act is awaited by the whole society and ensures preconditions for the observance of the basic right to vote of all the Romanians, no matter where they are,” it is said in the press release.

About 445,000 Moldovans regained the Romanian nationality by the end of 2014.
