Dan Perjovschi, a Romanian artist known for his affinity for the use of public spaces as a means of expressing his feelings, displayed on Friday several of his works in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. His visit to the Republic of Moldova is part of a project for promoting art in public places, called “Interventions-3” and implemented by the Association of Young Moldovan Plastic Artists “Oberliht” and the arts magazine “Stare de Urgenta” (“State of Emergency”). Perjovschi will open on Saturday a new “independent space” in Chisinau, abstractly called “ARThotel”. This is actually a basement in an apartment building, whose walls accommodate Perjovschi's works of art. The exhibition may be visited by the general public on Saturday, between 10:00 and 12:00. Dan Perjovschi is also the author of the illustrations of the 6th issue of the State of Emergency, launched during the meeting of the artist with the public in Chisinau. “For me, a paper is a public space”, said Perjovschi, referring to his drawing in the magazine. One of his illustrations in the magazine depicts Moldova as Europe's poorest country: “I drew a figure of a man who keeps his balance on a tightrope, helped by his empty pockets”. Attending the launch, the magazine's editor-in-chief for Romania, Andreea Toma, stated that the publication focuses on “a dialogue between young authors from Moldova and Romania”. The last issue also features an interview with illustrator Dan Perjovschi. Interventions-3 project manager Vladimir Us has told Info-Prim Neo that the message the project aims to convey is “the public space is one for all and it mustn't be monopolized by a single human being”. The project is to complete in late August when a group of 20 artists from Moldova and Romania will animate with mural painting a 100m wall of an abandoned farm at Chisinau's outskirts. The “Interventions 3” project is held within the “Chiosc” Project, financed by the Latin Union (Moldovan office), Romanian Cultural Institute, European Cultural Foundation and Henkel Romania.
