Romanian approves Memorandum Agreement on Social Security with Moldova

The Romanian Government has approved the Memorandum Agreement between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the field of social security. The Agreement regulates the granting of maternity allowance, pensions, aid in case of disease and maternity, aid in case of accidents at work and vocational diseases, death and unemployment benefit, temporary work incapacity allowance. The agreement sets the general principle according to which the person who carries out an activity achieving incomes is subject only to the legislation of the country on whose territory the respective activity is carried out. Special provisions are stipulated for the workers sent to carry out activities on the territory of other state, for the personnel of the international transport enterprises, civil servants and the personnel assimilated to them, the crews of the ships under the flag of one of the two countries and members of the diplomatic missions or consular posts. The provisions of this agreement will be applied to persons who are or have been subject to the legislation of the one of the two states or the legislations of both states. The document stipulates the equal treatment among persons who were and are subject to the legislation of one of the states and who reside on the territory of the other state and the citizens of that state. There is also stipulated the possibility of the export of social security services. The Agreement between Romania and the Republic of Moldova will be concluded for a unlimited period and it will take effect within two months since the last official notification among the two states.
