A Romanian prosecutor who worked at the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) comes to work at the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Anticorruption Center of Moldova. He will analyze the corruption and other cases and will then formulate his own proposals for amending the legislation so as to improve the situation as regards corruption combating, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu told a press briefing, quoted by IPN.
The Speaker noted that the justice sector reform and corruption fighting are among the Parliament’s priorities in the autumn session, which starts next week. The activity of a Romanian prosecutor with experience in corruption fighting in Moldova is a measure supported by the European Union. The given prosecutor was selected by the EU itself.
Andrian Candu added that from his viewpoint, the National Anticorruption Center and the National Integrity Commission should be reformed or even liquidated so as to set up a new organization, similar to Romania’s National Anticorruption Directorate.
The Head of Parliament also made reference to the frequently used expression “DNA crosses the Prut!”, saying the Romanian prosecutor who comes on mission to Moldova is a first ‘swallow’ in this regard.
