Romanian and Russian clergy to discuss creation of three new eparchies in Moldova

Representatives of the Russian and Romanian Orthodox Churches will meet on Thursday in Sofia, Bulgaria, to discuss the conflict which emerged after the Romanian Patriarchate decided to create three new eparchies on the territory of Moldova, Romanian Global News reports. The initiative to hold a meeting came from the Romanian Patriarchate on condition that the meeting takes place either in Serbia or Bulgaria. Earlier, Moscow was planning to hold the meeting in Switzerland or Austria and the Romanian Church – in Greece or Cyprus. The decision of the Romanian Orthodox Church on the creation of three new dioceses was repeatedly criticised by the Russian Church, Metropolitan Church of Moldova and the Ukrainian clergy.
