The Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Cristian-Leon Țurcanu paid a visit to the city of Ceadâr-Lunga in the Republic of Moldova on Wednesday. He discussed the projects that can be developed together with the local authorities with mayor Anatolie Topal, IPN reports, referring to InfoPrut.

“In Ceadâr-Lunga, the people want, first of all, peace and prosperity and a better future for their children. And it is increasingly obvious that this future is at home, in Europe,” said the diplomat.

The Romanian official also referred to foreign propaganda, which misleads the population of ATU Gagauzia. “We also discussed the challenges posed by foreign propaganda and fake news, but also how false promises coming from the East deceive the people, without bringing the promised well-being. Together we must become more resilient and ensure that the European future of the Republic of Moldova becomes a reality,” stated Cristian-Leon Țurcanu.

He also visited “Mihail Ceachir” Theoretical High School in Ceadâr-Lunga, where Gagauz children learn in Romanian since primary school.

“In Gagauzia, the parents and children want to learn Romanian, they understand not only the importance of knowing the official language of the Republic of Moldova, but also the fact that Romanian is an official language of the European Union. We visited “Mihail Ceachir” Theoretical High School, where Gagauz children are already learning in primary classes in Romanian, and starting this autumn the fifth grade will also function. I discussed the need to improve the conditions of study and the importance of consistent support in this regard with mayor Anatolii Topal and the management of the high school. At the same time, we discussed possible joint projects and how Romania can support the efforts of the local and central authorities in Chisinau,” stated the Romanian ambassador in Chisinau.

On the same day, the ambassador visited the village of Carabetovca in Basarabeasca district and the town of Cimișlia where there are two of the 52 polling stations that the Romanian authorities will open in the Republic of Moldova for the June 9 European Parliament elections, the quoted source noted.
