Romanian actor Florin Piersic offered Moldovan nationality
Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti Monday granted Moldovan nationality to Romanian actor Florin Piersic by presidential decree, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Florin Piersic asked that Moldovan nationality be offered to him by a letter sent to Nicolae Timofti on October 6. In his letter, the actor says that he had given a number of recitals in Moldova over the last few years and every time was received in an extraordinary way and was surrounded by warmth and appreciation that moved him deeply.
“As the Moldovan people showed me so much love, I want to answer with love too. I want to partly identify myself with the origin and culture of this country and to become a citizen of it. My dear parents are from Bucovina. This is an additional reason to feel attached to Moldova, no matter on what part of the Prut I am,” Florin Piersic said in his letter to Nicolae Timofti.
According to the President’s press service, the Law on the Nationality of the Republic of Moldova says that in the Republic’s interests and in exceptional cases, citizens of other states can become citizens of Moldova by the decree of the President of Moldova.
