The Parliament of Romania will support the European integration aspirations, objectives and expectations of Moldova. The joint commission on European integration of the legislative bodies of the two countries on March 20 adopted in Chisinau a resolution whereby Romania pledges to politically support Moldova on the path to European integration, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Romanian lawmakers are ready to assist us and to help us meet the needs in such areas as the legislative process, the drafting and adoption of EU-compliant laws. We hope we will establish intense cooperation relations at intergovernmental level,” said MP Ana Gutu, co-chairwoman of the commission on behalf of Moldova. She also said that Moldova must have as many friends as possible, with Romania being one of the closest friends that always provided unconditional support. Co-chairman of the commission on behalf of Romania, Senator Titus Corlatean said that the Romanian Parliament will offer constant and firm support to Moldova in achieving the set objectives. “This will be done by the own efforts of the state that wants to join the EU. At the same time, we as an EU member state, can provide support and share our experience in holding negotiations on the entry into the European Union,” he stated. “We are for accelerating the talks on the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and the EU, and for granting a free-visa regime to the Moldovan travelers.” The joint commission on European integration was set up in accordance with the cooperation and friendship protocol between the Parliament of Romania and the Parliament of Moldova that was signed in Bucharest on April 27, 2010.
