The issuing of small-scale traffic permits will be resumed in a month, announced Romania’s President Traian Basescu, who is in Chisinau on an official visit, IPN reports.
Traian Basescu said the procedure for issuing small-scale traffic permits was suspended as a result of an obligation imposed by the European Union – that all the issued permits must contain biometric data.
“It’s not just a matter of permit issuing. The processing of the personal data of citizens implies a more complicated regime. But the problem was solved and the small-scale traffic permits will start to be issued in a month. You should not think that we are less bureaucratic. A have the same blood,” stated Traian Basescu.
The consulates of Romania in Moldova stopped issuing small-scale traffic permits last October. The permits enable the citizens living 30-50 km from the border to travel visa-free to Romania within a similar perimeter.
