Romania to open 13 polling stations in Moldova for presidential elections
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania will set up 12 polling places for the Romanian November 22 presidential elections in 10 Moldovan settlements. The Government of Moldova accepted the Romanian authorities' request made on October 8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Four polling places will be opened in Chisinau, and by one in Orhei, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Balti, Cahul, Giurgiulesti, Anenii Noi, Causeni and Soroca.
Media outlets reported earlier that the Romanian authorities' decision to open polling stations was taken without the consent of the Moldovan authorities, quoting sources from the State Diplomatic Protocol Department of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Valeriu Turea, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Moldova, said he wants to consider this fact “a perception error.”
So far, the Romanian citizens in Moldova could vote only in Chisinau, at the Embassy and Consulate of Romania.
