Romania supports abolition of visa regime for Moldovans by EU, minister

Romania supports the abolition of the visa regime for Moldovan travelers by the EU. The Romanian state also supports Moldova’s objective to sign and ratify the Association Agreement with the EU during the current mandate of the European Commission, by next autumn, Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean said in a news conference in Chisinau, quoted by IPN.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Natalia Gherman said the visit paid by her Romanian counterpart is symbolic. Now that Moldova is at the last stage of its European diplomatic marathon, Romania shows that it is its main partner on the path to European integration.

The official said that a post-Vilnius Summit calendar was worked out and there was highlighted the accelerated pace of the partnership between the two states. “These excellent relations are transformed into important projects for Moldova,” stated Natalia Gherman.

This is the second visit paid by Titus Corlatean to Moldova since his appointment as Foreign Minister. The official met with President Nicolae Timofti and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
