The Government of Romania decided to provide foreign emergency humanitarian aid to the value of over €2 million to the Moldovan authorities. The announcement was made by the Prime Minister of Romania Florin Cîțu after the meeting of the Romanian Cabinet, IPN reports.
At the first stage, the assistance will consist of medical protective equipment, including 1.5 million surgical masks, 100,000 FFP3 masks, 100,000 suits and 100,000 non-sterile gloves.
“I was glad to learn that Romania will send so swiftly new humanitarian aid to the Republic of Moldova. As a result of the discussions I had with the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, the Prime Minister of Romania Florin Cîțu and other high-ranking officials from the EU, it was possible to reactivate, as an exception for our country, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism through which the EU countries can help us with donations. [...] We thank the Government of Romania for the support. Romania is the first country in the EU that reacted immediately to our request for assistance in the fight against the pandemic,” President Maia Sandu posted on Facebook.
The Romanian delegation that will take part in the mission will consist of eight representatives of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, while the delivery will be ensured during February 11-13.
