Romania offers €300,000 to Moldova for traceability of animal products
Romania provided €300,000 to Moldova within a project to teach consultants about the European system for ensuring the traceability of products of animal origin. The project was completed on January 17 and the representatives of the Romanian side assured that this does not mean that the Moldovan-Romanian cooperation in this field is over, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The bilateral project started in 2010, when the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova signed an agreement with the National Sanitary Veterinary Authority for Food Safety of Romania. Within this project, consultants were trained for creating and implementing a European system for ensuring the traceability of products of animal origin in Moldova.
Attending the project closing event, Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca said it’s time for Moldova to focus on the quality of products, not on their quantity. He stressed that Romania’s commitment to support the Moldovan farmers didn’t start with this project and will not end here.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumakov thanked the Romanian authorities for their constant support for the sensitive sectors of Moldova. Romania went through the period of integration into the EU and has the experience needed by Moldova. “Romania’s assistance came when it was very necessary,” he stated.
Within the Moldovan-Romanian project, Moldovan lawmakers were consulted before initiating bills concerning food safety and the phytosanitary aspect.
