The Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Moldova handed over a part of a donation that consists of 606 tablet PCs intended for children from socially underprivileged families of the Republic of Moldova. The event was held in Strășeni, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Embassy.
Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ioniță said the donation of tablet PCs is made not long after the fifth joint meeting of the Governments, where a new non-reimbursable financing agreement to the value of €100 million for Moldova from Romania was signed, alongside another 12 important bilateral agreements aimed at supporting Moldova’s irreversible European course.
“We are sure that the tablet PCs are only a minimum contribution to satisfying the needs of all children from vulnerable families in the Republic of Moldova. The criteria for assessing the beneficiaries of the donation were: children who come from one-parent families; children from families with three and more children or children from families with incomes coming exclusively from social benefits and remittances. By such a gesture of support for the education sector of the Republic of Moldova, Romania confirms that this sphere is an excellent area of the bilateral relations, while the pandemic taught us that modern remote access instruments are necessary in these difficult conditions,” stated the Romanian diplomat.
Accordion to Daniel Ioniță, this gesture shows that Romania has an inclusive, consistent and responsible approach to the development of relations with the Republic of Moldova and does what it promises to. The donation costs €100,000.
The effective donation was made by RoAid to the public association “CCF Moldova – Child, Community, Family”. The Republic of Moldova is the main beneficiary of Romania’s development assistance. Such donations will be organized the next days all over Moldova’s districts, including ATU Gagauzia and the Transnistrian region, through the personnel of the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau, of the Consulates General of Romania in Bălți and Cahul.
In time, RoAid supported a series of important projects in Moldova, such as the financing of the campaign to raise awareness of cervical cancer, equipment of the Mother and Child Institute, modernization of the Comrat District Hospital, outfitting of the 112 Emergency Service, supporting of the media, different sector training programs and others.
