In January-February 2007, the volume of exports from Moldova amounted to USD 160 mln, by 4.6% more against the similar period last year, the data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics show. The first place among the export partner countries is held by Romania, with USD 27.1 mln (+41.5% against the similar period last year). Among the first 12 countries, which hold 84.9% of the total volume of exports from Moldova, there are included such countries as Russia – USD 23.3 mln (47.3% against the similar period last year), Italy – USD 19.2 mln (+14.55%); Ukraine – USD 15.3 mln (+11.9%); Germany – USD 11.3 mln (+ 1.7-fold); Switzerland – USD 7.1 mln (+13.9-fold); Belarus – USD 6.2 mln (+30.6%); UK – USD 5.9 bln (+2.4-fold); France – USD 5.5 mln (+0.3%); Poland – USD 4.8 mln (+33.1%); Kazakhstan – USD 3.7 mln (+3.3-fold). The presence of CIS countries in the exports of Moldova constituted 31.7% (January-February 2006 – 48.7%), amounting to USD 50.7 mln. The exports of goods to the CIS member countries went down by 31.9% against the similar period last year, contributing to the total 15.5% drop in exports, mainly due to the considerable reduction of exports to Russia (-52.7%). Exports to the countries of the European Union amounted to USD 89.8 mln (+ 31.1% against January-February 2006), constituting 56.1% of the total exports (44.8% in January-February 2006). In January-February 2007 the imports amounted to USD 456.8 mln, by 42.9% more compared with 2006. The imports of goods from CIS totalled USD 178.9 mln (+23.3% against January-February 2006), equal to 39.2% of the total imports (45.4% in January-February 2006). The imports from EU member countries amounted to USD 202.8 mln (1.6-fold more against January-February 2006, constituting 44.4% of the total volume of imports (38.5% in January-February 2006).
