The Government of Romania will offer 12.7 million Romanian lei to the Moldovan authorities for equipping the public order and security bodies with units of transport and special means. A draft decision to this effect was approved on Thursday by the Romanian Cabinet, IPN reports.

Mihai Constantin, spokesman for the Romanian Government, said that it goes to support for Moldova within the €100 million agreement between the Romanian and Moldovan Governments, which was signed in Chisinau on February 11, 2022. The approved support is designed to strengthen the public order management capacities.

Another support measure that is part of the €100 million agreement refers to the reconstruction of the student dormitory of “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” State University of Cahul. According to an approved decision, the Romanian Government will contribute 11.5 million lei. The funds will be transferred to the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova by the end of this year, in three installments, depending on the stage of execution of these works.

Mihai Constantin also spoke about another measure through which Romania provides substantial and constant support to the Republic of Moldova. “Through an emergency ordinance, the Government decided to further provide assistance for the supply of the Republic of Moldova with energy. It is an agreement signed in 2022. Thus, the normative document provides that, in cases where the Republic of Moldova cannot ensure its national electricity consumption through its own production, electricity producers of Romania can sell energy to traders or suppliers designated by the Government of the Republic of Moldova at a reference price, to which the carbon permit prices, where applicable, is added. And the electricity sold under these conditions will cover exclusively the consumption needs of final consumers in the Republic of Moldova,” said the spokesman for the Romanian Government.
