Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who is the special representative of the Russian President for the Transnistrian region, promised that Russia will offer eight ambulances to Tiraspol, four of which this summer and another four in September. He also promised that the Russian authorities will provide financing for renovating medical and education institutions. The official informed about this during a visit to Tiraspol on May 9, IPN reports.
According to the official website of the Transnistrian administration, Dmitry Rogozin asserted that the people from Transnistria repeatedly asked for assistance for improving the socioeconomic situation in the region.
“I’ve got the impression that they try to artificially isolate the region. We don’t like this and hence decided to sign agreements to deliver the eight ambulances. The nongovernmental organization “Eurasian Integration” will also channel money for achieving a number of objectives in the region,” stated Rogozin.
Thus, Russia’s financial assistance will go to finish the construction of a children’s hospital by next September and the creation of an oncologic center with equipment for chemotherapy. By a subdivision for persons suffering from tuberculosis will be set up in Bender and Rybnitsa.
In the education sector, Russia intends to finance the opening of five kindergartens of 150 places each in the towns of Tiraspol, Rybnitsa, Bender, Slobozia, and in Tashlic village as well as the construction of two schools, in Rybnitsa and Tashlic. It will also finance the building of an annex to a block of the Tiraspol University “T. Shevchenko” for opening a faculty of medicine. All the computers will be changed so that the university meets the international standards.
Russian lawmaker Alexei Juravliov, who manages the NGO “Eurasian Integration”, said that Russia will allocate hundreds of millions of rubles for achieving the set goals in the Transnistrian region.
