“I hope you will not freeze in winter,” Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin said in a press briefing he gave in Chisinau on September 2 after having separate meetings with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar. The Russian official said the energy problem is important, especially before winter. He voiced hope that Moldova will not remain without gas when winter comes, IPN reports.
At the beginning of his speech, Dmitri Rogozin spoke about Moldova’s European aspirations. “You should not lose a car of your train heading for the EU,” said the official, stressing that the Moldovan authorities must not forget about the colleagues from the Transnistrian region, who should not be only informed about the European integration, but also involved in this process.
Valeriu Lazar said that a meeting may be held in the middle of September to discuss the energy subject in detail. According to him, the relations between the two countries have become stronger in a number of areas, including the imports into Russia.
Dmitri Rogozin is in Moldova on a two-day visit.
