Rogozin accepts invitation to visit Chisinau, seeks security guarantees

The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin accepted the invitation to visit Chisinau in September made by the Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Octavian Calmac, Minister of Economy. But the Russian official asked for guarantees concerning the security of the delegation and of the flight through transit states, the publication tass.ru reported, quoted by IPN.

“I was invited by Mister Octavian Calmac. The invitation was made recently, several weeks ago. He invited me to visit Chisinau this autumn. I read this invitation with pleasure, but I don’t know what Mister Calmac meant and how the security of the invitees from Russia will be ensured, how they will persuade their Romanian master. It is hard to say, but this is not our problem,” stated Dmitry Rogozin. He added that the invitation was accepted and he is ready to visit Moldova on particular conditions.

The Russian official said he is interested in continuing his activity in Tiraspol and in Chisinau, but he now seeks strict guarantees provided by all the interested sides so that the Moldovan-Russian relations come closer to the previous level.

Dmitry Rogozin also said that he plans to have a meeting with the President of Moldova Igor Dodon during his visit to Iran on August 5.

Last week, Dmitry Rogozin was to come to Moldova to take part in the events staged in Transnistria to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of the peacekeeping mission there. But he could not reach the destination as the plane by which he travelled had to return. Romania didn’t allow the aircraft to enter its airspace for the reason that the passengers included persons against whom the EU imposed sanctions as a result of the annexation of Crimea. The list includes Rogozin.
