The Ministry of Transport and Roads has ordered the removal of all crucifixes and other markers placed by the roadside at the sites of fatal traffic accidents. The memorials must be removed within six months under the order, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Transport said that the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Culture, as well as the Church of Moldova and the Church of Bessarabia, will be involved in informing the general public about this measure.
If the roadside memorials are not removed by the families that installed them, they will be removed by the authorities and given away to the churches to be reused for the burial of needy or homeless people.
