The heavy showers of July 29 and 30 resulted in damage to local roads in southern and norther Moldova. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, in Cahul and Sangerei districts the rain destroyed almost 1 km of local gravel and asphalted roads, IPN reports.
In the municipality of Comrat, a number of crops were affected. Rescuers and firefighters were called to pump water out of 12 cellars and orchards in Comrat town.
In the morning of July 31, 21 communities in eight districts were partially disconnected from the power supply. By noon, the supply of electricity was restored to all the localities.
Local commissions for emergencies are to assess the damage done by the rain.
