The minimum width of sidewalks or of the area intended for pedestrians will be of at least a meter. The parked vehicle should not block access to ramps or sloped curbs intended for persons with disabilities and other groups with reduced mobility. A draft Government decision to amend the Road Traffic Regulations was proposed for public debates, IPN reports.

The uninformative note to the draft decision says the proposed changes are aimed at making the drivers be more attentive to the way in which they park in localities, behave responsibly and not to create obstacles on sidewalks for pedestrians.

Also, the parents with children in carriages, persons with disabilities in wheelchairs, elderly people and others will be able to move freely. It is noted that in the municipality of Chisinau the vehicles are often parked so that they create obstacles to pedestrians.

The draft decision says nothing about the penalties that will be imposed if the Road Traffic Regulations are violated.
