A person died and 10 were injured in road accidents on Thursday in Chisinau. Chisinau Road Police Inspector Ion Roscovanu told Info-Prim Neo that a serious accident occurred at 89 Vasile Lupu Street. A Toyota car, driven by a 25-year old man ran into a man, 35, who was on the sidewalk against a store. The victim was admitted to the Emergency Hospital, but died in the intensive care section. According to Ion Roscovanu, the driver ignored the fact that the road is icy and lost control over the vehicle. The Chisinau Road police warn the drivers to take into account the condition of the road, drive slowly in order to avoid accidents, and use winter tyres. Another accident also caused by a careless driver occurred on the Stefan cel Mare Street in Bacioi Village. The friver of a Mercedes lorry, 26, suffered pelvis fracture and his passenger, a 20-year old woman, suffered a closed backbone fracture. Over the past 24 hours the Road Police registered 10 traffic accidents. Traffic officers fined 79 drivers for speeding, 114 for wrong manoeuvring, 31 for driving on red light and 19 for drunk-driving.
