Risk of fires has increased
A burning cigarette or match thrown in dry grass as well as the scorching heat can cause devastating fires. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service warns the risk of fires in wooded areas, pastures, arable lands, forage stores and places that are often visited by tourists increases when it is very hot.
The Service's spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that 26 fires have happened in the fields and edges of roads during the last 48 hours alone. As the risk of fires is higher, the Service dispatched a larger number of firefighters and rescuers to the wooded and recreational areas.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service recommends avoiding starting fires near dry grass, crops and forests and burning the stubble, and keeping the liquified petroleum gas and other inflammable materials only in metallic containers in safe places.
Liliana Puscasu said the people who go to rest in the woods are asked to make fire only in special places that are far from vegetation and put out the fire with water or earth before leaving the place. The parents are warned to permanently supervise their children.
