Specialists of “Apă-Canal Chisinau” SA (ACC) assure that the rise in the level of water in the Nistru will not affect the consumers in Chisinau even if the State Hydrological Service warned that the volume of water discharged from the Dubăsari accumulation lake into the Nistru rose to 500 cubic meters per second. Moreover, all the consumers will be provided with water and sewerage services round-the-clock. The pumping and wastewater treatment stations work as usual, IPN reports, quoting a press release of ACC.
During June 22-25, the specialists forecast the level of water in the Nistru River, on the section between Grigoriopol town and Talmaza village, will rise by up to 1 meter.
According to the latest information, the level of water in the Nistru is now 10.6 m. This level enables the Nistru water station from which Chisinau is supplied with water to work normally. The level of water is monitored permanently.
Over 200,000 cubic meters of water are distributed daily. The critical level of 8.1 m in the Nistru was recorded during two consecutive years during the hottest period of the year.
In the summer of 2008, when the Nistru River flooded, the level of water rose to about 19 meters. Hundreds of houses were inundated and thousands of persons were evacuated. Even in such conditions, the capital city was supplied with water nonstop, said “Apă-Canal Chisinau”.
