Right to Know Day to be celebrated in Chisinau during a week
Moldova, alongside another 60 countries, will be marking the Right to Know Day themed “An Active Person is an Informed Person” during a week, from September 28 until October 3. The eighth edition is organized by the Center “Acces-Info” in cooperation with a number of nongovernmental organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Center.
Conferences, seminars, roundtable meetings, news conferences, consultations with civil society, book exhibitions and other events will be traditionally held in Chisinau and the country’s districts during the Right to Know Day.
The aim of the event is to inform the population about the rights and methods of asking for official information and of appealing to court, to promote the observance of the right to information and the freedom of expression, and to actively engage the people in decision making.
September 28 was proclaimed the Right to Know Day in 2002 at a forum of NGOs in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.
