A guard of the Rezina-based Penitentiary No. 17 is accused of asking for 1,000 lei from a detainee for illegally passing on two mobile phones to him, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The incident happened at the beginning of March. The employee was arrested immediately after he took the money from the prisoner’s relatives.

The guard was discharged from his post. The prosecutors finished the investigation and sent the criminal case to court.
