Rezina District Council holds first meeting, appoints chairman

The Rezina District Council on Thursday, November 29, met for the first time after the recent elections and appointed the chairman of the district. Iurie Ciocan, Secretary of the Central Election Commission, who attended the event, told Info-Prim Neo that all 33 councillors turned up at the meeting. According to Ciocan, the Council re-elected as district chairman the representative of the Communist Party, Valeriu Ciorici, for a second term. The Rezina District Council was formed following early elections on November 15. The majority – 18 seats – is held by the Communist Party. Six councillors represent the Social Liberal Party, three represent the Christian Democratic People’s Party; Moldova Noastra Alliance Party and the National Liberal Party are each represented by two councillors; the Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party are each represented by one councillor.
