Revenues to 2013 Chisinau Budget to rise 8.9%
Revenues to the 2013 Chisinau Municipal Budget are expected to amount to 2.643 billion lei, a 8.9% rise on this year, and spending is planned at 2.664 billion lei, announced the city's finance chief Veronica Herta.
Speaking at the City Hall's ordinary meeting on Monday, Veronica Herta said the bulk of the revenues will be collected from taxes on regulated activities and from individual income taxes.
Most spending will be destined for education, 1.08 billion lei. 328 million lei will be allocated to road construction and rehabilitation, and 277 million lei will go to public amenities.
As calculated by the Ministry of Finance, 278 million lei will have to be transferred to the State Budget, in particular to the Territorial Assistance Fund.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca remarked that the Budget has been on the rise since 2008 and said he expected revenues to hit the 3 billion lei mark within two years due to investment.
The Mayor said that an additional source of income could be additional local taxes, which if introduced, could supplement the Budget by nearly 200 million lei.
The draft 2013 Budget is to be debated on a first reading at the next meeting of the City Council.
