Revenues of compulsory health insurance funds decreased

The Government decided to reduce the incomes of the compulsory health insurance funds for 2009 by adjusting the funds' spending to the revenues. The real incomes of the funds in 2009 will be 2.850,637 billion lei, down 629.8 million lei compared with the initial sum, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu, who presented the bill on the modification of the law on compulsory health insurance funds for this year, the incomes will be decreased because the remuneration fund used to calculate the insurance premiums paid by employees and employers diminished by 17% following layoffs and forced leave as a result of the crisis. The obligatory health insurance premiums paid by those who purchase policies declined by 27%. The allocations transferred to the compulsory health insurance funds from the state budget were reduced by 20%. “Given the balance available on January 1, 2009 in the compulsory health insurance funds, the spending will decrease by only 10.7%. We will reduce a number of administrative and other costs so that the incomes of the basic fund from where money is paid to the insurance medical institutions be decreased by only 9.3%. This will enable to maintain the volume of services provided for the population,” Hotineanu said.
