Revenues from sale of fixed-line phone services down 14%

The revenues from the sale of fixed-line phone services in the first six months of this year decreased by 14%. The sales totaled about 666.4 million lei. The number of subscribers to such services rose by 0.7% (8,900) in the period, to over 1 million, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the national ICT regulator ANRCETI.

The rise in the number of subscribers is due exclusively to the alternative providers of this type of telephone services, which connected over 9,000 new clients to the own networks. The customer base of the national telecoms carrier SA Moldtelecom diminished insignificantly. On July 1, SA Moldtelecom had over 1 million subscribers, while the 21 alternative providers had together over 91,600 subscribers.

The average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) in January-June fell by 15.8% to 91.8 lei. The ARPU of SA Moldtelecom was 95.4 lei (- 14.5%), while of the alternative providers – 44.1 lei (- 24.7%).

At the end of June, the market share of SA Moldtelecom by revenues decreased by 0.8% to 96.5%, while of the alternative providers of fixed-line phone services rose by the same percentage to 3/5%, owing to the increase in the number of clients following their connection to triple play (Internet, TV and fixed-line telephone) services.
