Retail trade around Central Market forbidden starting today
Starting today, September 3, retail trade in industrial food and agricultural products at stalls and on the ground around the Central Market in Chisinau is forbidden, under an ordinance issued by Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The municipal authorities said in a press release that vehicle traffic around the Central Market will be redirected as well.
Under the ordinance, vendors will no longer be allowed to sell outside the market, directly in the street. The Municipality will stop issuing temporary authorizations to street merchants. Further, the economic entities that hold kiosks on the streets surrounding the Market are required to stop displaying commodities and unauthorized signboards in the street.
Under the same ordinance, street trade during nighttime hours will be disallowed on the segment of Mitropolit Varlaam Street between the streets Tighina and Armeneasca. To smooth traffic flow near the Central Market, parking is forbidden on Armeneasca Street, the segment between Stefan cel Mare Blvd. and Columna Street; on Mitropolit Varlaam Street, the segment between the streets Ismail and Tighina; and on Tighina Street, the segment between Mitropolit Varlaam St. and Stefan cel Mare Blvd. Unauthorized parking around the Central Market will entail towing.
