The representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol, together with the participants in the Transnistrian conflict settlements talks in the 5+2 format, looked for solutions to a number of problems faced in education and transport. The discussions were held in the German town Bad Reichenhall, which hosted the annual conference “Confidence Building Measures in the Transnistrian Conflict Settlement Process” on July 12-13, IPN reports.
The conference is a platform for dialogue for assessing the work of the sector working groups of Chisinau and Tiraspol, contributing to identifying pragmatic solutions to topical problems from the agenda of the talks and for supporting the negotiation process.
According to the Reintegration Office, the conference consisted of three thematic workshops centering on education, transport and communications. These involved specialists from Chisinau and Tiraspol, EU experts and representatives of the Permanent Conference on Political Issues within the Transnistrian Settlement Process.
The panel for education discussed such issues as the apostilling of diplomas issued by the Transnistrian universities, carrying out of joint inspections at the Moldovan-administered, Romanian-language schools in Transnistria and organization of school Olympiads for students from both sides of the Nistru River.
The workshop on road transport focused on the possibilities of opening the Gura Bacului-Bacioc bridge and of ensuring the access of motor vehicles registered in Transnistria to international road traffic.
The thematic session on telecommunications centered on the designation of a functional mechanism of interaction designed to eliminate the barriers existing in the field of electronic communications, to facilitate the activity of providers of networks and/or services in this sector and to contribute to restoring the direct telephone connection between the two sides of the Nistru.
The participants agreed to continue the consultations on the mentioned problems in the next meetings of the sector working groups.
