Results of pension reform presented in meeting of Government’s press club

The pensions of about 95,000 persons will be valorized as of October 1. Of these,  85,000 are old-age pensions, while almost 10,000 are disability pensions. The pension reform was debated in the first meeting of the Government’s press club on October 1, IPN reports.

Mircea Buga, the Premier’s senior state consultant on health protection and social development, said the average size of the old-age pension will rise by 308 lei, which is 20%. In the case of disability pensions, the rise will represent 415 lei on average or over 40%.

At the fourth stage, there are valorized the pensions set during January 1, 2014 and March 31, 2017. The recalculation will be done in the office and the recipient of pension will not need to go to the local social insurance office.

Secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Nelea Rusu said the pensions of persons who continued working and were pensioned before January 1, 1999 will be recalculated in 2019-2020. “To benefit from valorization, these need to go to the local social insurance office, according to their domicile,” stated Nelea Rusu.

The pension reform started in 2017. The previous valorization stages took place on April 1,November 1, 2017 and April 1, 2018 and referred to the pensions set in 2001-2013. More than 205,000 pensions were valorized during the previous stages. The goal of valorization is to adjust the pensions that were affected in time by the depreciation of the national currency.
