The prosecutor general's pre-selection commission is due to meet again to repeatedly analyse the information published in the public space regarding the candidates who have been included in the short list. The Minister of justice, Olesea Stamate, announced this in a post on a social network, IPN reports.
According to the minister, after the names of the shortlisted candidates became known, information that the commission was not aware of at the time of evaluation continued to come up. In this context, a reassessment is required.
Olesea Stamate says that within the Commission there are no people who execute orders, but people who decide based on the facts. The commission's mission was "to eliminate toxic candidates with serious integrity problems". "We do not have an Igor Popa or a Harunjen among the candidates who are currently on the short list. We do not have people clearly affiliated with the oligarchic regime”, stresses the minister.
"We would not need to carry out this verification if the competent institutions did properly their jobs in this country!", added Olesea Stamate.
The prosecutor is appointed for seven years, a term longer than that of the current government. "I do not want to miss this chance to appoint the right person who will come up to the population’s expectations. It is not about names, it is about the ultimate goal for which we will keep on fighting,” said Olesea Stamate.
