The campaign “I Vote Pro-Europeans!” involved over 40 young people aged between 18 and 30 and had over 4,000 direct beneficiaries aged between 12 and 70. Different activities were carried out in a number of settlements during six weeks. According to Tudor Cojocariu, coordinator of the project implemented by the Association “European Convergences” and the Cultural Association “Pro Basarabia si Bucovina”, the number of activities performed was twice larger than that planned initially, owing to the receptivity of the people. The results of the campaign were presented in a news conference at IPN.
“The people were indeed receptive and we were pleasantly surprised. We expected that the people in Balti and Soroca would be more reticent, but when we explained to them that the European Union is a project not against somebody, but for them, they became very responsive. We saw that there are great shortcomings as regards the information and perception of the objective reality, at least as we perceive it and consider it objective, in the northern districts and in Gagauzia,” stated Tudor Cojocariu.
Within the campaign, there were staged three concerts in Balti, two concerts in Soroca, by one concert in Chisinau and Ialoveni and in Verejeni and Tantareni villages of Telenesti district. A thematic conference was held in Orhei. Promotional materials were distributed in Durlesti and Ghidighici towns of Chisinau municipality, in Slobozia-Dusca and Hrusova villages of Criuleni district, and in Susleni, Piatra, Berezlogi and Vascauti villages of Orhei district.
There were dealt out 350 umbrellas, 2,000 notebooks, 1,400 fabric bags, 1,000 trinkets, 2,000 pens, 200 rucksacks, 1,000 car perfumes, 10,000 ribbons, 200 mouse pads and by 3,500 brochures “10 reasons why Moldova needs to choose the EU” and “Why do we need free trade with the EU?” as well as 1,000 newspapers “I Vote Pro-Europeans!”. The brochures were compiled based on the information published by the Independent Analytical Center “Expert-Grup” on budgetstories.md.
The civic campaign “I Vote Pro-Europeans!” forms part of the program “EU comes to your home!”. It was carried out in the period between October 17 and November 28.
