The number of applications filed by Moldovan students is not larger than the number of places available at Romanian education institutions for them. Charge d'affaires at the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau Gabriel Pistol has told Info-Prim Neo there were submitted about 5,000 applications for budget-funded places and the admission results will be made public by August 20. After lodging the applications, the young people received by a ticket and were asked to wait for the results, which will be published on the website of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport of Romania. According to Gabriel Pistol, most of the applications were filed in Chisinau, during July 24-28 – 1,887 to study at universities and about 500 to study at high schools. The number of applications in Balti and Cahul was lower. Initially, the Government of Romania provided 2,150 places with scholarships for Moldovan young people. But on July 21, the number of places was raised to 5,000. “The Bucharest commission that consists of 12 persons processed applications without interruption. Its working program was extended to 10-11pm on certain days,” Gabriel Pistol said.
