Restrictive measures against MP Tauber lifted

The Chisinau Court of Appeals today overturned a district court’s ruling of February 15 that imposed restrictive measures against MP Marina Tauber in the Shor Party’s illegal financing case.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office recalled that the restrictions included the prohibition for Tauber to leave her city of residence and communicate with persons related to the criminal process.

Tauber welcomed today’s decision as “an important victory” for her and her team. “I understood that if you persist, if you fight, you can win. That’s what we have been doing together with our team for seven months. Today is the first day, after all these months, when I was able to come to the party office. I was happy to see my colleagues again. Soon, I will be able to visit other localities, the municipalities of Balti and Orhei, to talk with the people”, said the lawmaker.

Tauber was detained on July 21, the day she lost her parliamentary immunity. She was accused on two charges: knowingly accepting financing for the Shor Party from an organized criminal group, and for falsifying the party’s financial records. On July 30, was placed under preventive arrest. This was followed by house arrest and then release on bail.
