“The most important factor for increased stability and prosperity in the region is a speedy resolution of the Transnistria conflict. Such a solution must be found within the established negotiation format”, stated on Wednesday the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Carl Bildt, while visiting the headquarters of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) in Odessa. The Minister expressed his strong support for the work of EUBAM and its contribution to improved border management in this important region. Head of the Mission General Ferenc Banfi said that the EUBAM is a common enterprise of Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union community, which is a guarantee that we will reach our shared goal of ensuring regional stability and prosperity. The EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine was launched on 30 November 2005 at the joint request of the Presidents of Moldova and Ukraine.
