Writers Ana Blandiana and Romulus Rusan staged a book exhibition on the Communist repercussions themed “Memory as form of justice” at the State University of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I always knew that a writer’s duty is to write what he/she thinks and then to manage to publish what he/she wrote. I fulfilled this duty and published what I wrote even if I was sometimes banned from writing. But the ban augmented the sin,” said Ana Blandiana. She also said that the resistance to communism through culture is not a form of heroism, but a form of survival. He husband Romulus Rusan, who is Romanian, said that the exhibit includes all the books they printed together over the 19 years of work of the Civic Alliance Foundation. It is a collection that deals with the history of communism in Romania since 1945 until 1989. The exhibition contains a series of studies and memoirs about the repercussions of communism, a collection of documents from the official archives and a history collection. “We write the history as it was because in schools they do not teach details. We wanted to reveal details and express the views of our generation,” he stated. Within the exhibit, there was presented the book “Si cerul s-a umplut de sfinţi...” (“And sky filled with saints”) by Ana Blandiana and Romulus Rusan. The head of the studies and researches service of the National Library Nina Negru also contributed to this book. The work contains studies about the causes, characteristics and interpretations of the Christian sacrificing in antiquity and modern times. “The book appears in a context when the people ask themselves about the sanctification of those who endured the consequences of the communist regime. These people were saints because they had the courage to oppose the communist regime, went to church and baptized their children,” said Nina Negru. The exhibition will continue until the end of the month.
